How the Pawn Business Started in the Frye Family
The pawn business is not unfamiliar territory for the Frye brothers. They grew up in the pawn industry. Their father, Arthur Frye, opened the Attleboro Pawn Shop in 1993. Although they were exposed to the pawn industry at a young age, Cliff, Scott, and Eric had no idea that they would follow in their father’s footsteps someday. After Cliff and Scott graduated from UMass Amherst, they each went into the accounting world and realized rather quickly they wanted to try their hand at entrepreneurship and started a prepaid gift card business for college towns and small businesses.
After gaining a substantial amount of knowledge about entrepreneurship and selling the majority portion of their business, Cliff and Scott decided to take after their father and start a pawn shop and check-cashing business. The younger brother, Eric was still attending UMass Amherst at the time but was told by his older brothers if he needed a job after graduation, they would welcome him into their new business venture with open arms.
The Frye Brothers successful business merged with their father’s Attleboro Pawn Shop in July of 2012. This business merger allowed Arthur Frye to step back from the business that he’s had since 1993, and let his sons take the reigns, and carry on the family legacy.

Fastcash Pawn & Checkcashers was founded in August of 2003. Since the business opened, the family-owned and operated business has become an innovator in the pawn industry. Fastcash has been serving the communities in Pawtucket, Attleboro, alongside thousands of other satisfied customers in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Fastcash has a 10,000 square foot facility and showroom on Newport Avenue in downtown Pawtucket.
